The House of Quiet is a response to the dense urban fabric of Mumbai — a sanctuary that prioritizes acoustic softness, thermal comfort, and visual calm. The design employs heavy cast concrete walls to moderate temperature fluctuations, while carefully positioned openings frame specific views of the sky and courtyard. Interior spaces are organized around a central water feature that cools the air naturally, while teak screens filter light into delicate patterns throughout the day. The material palette is intentionally restrained, allowing the architecture to speak through texture and shadow rather than ornament.
PAVILION OF LIGHT

CONCEPT: A meditation pavilion exploring the relationship between light, shadow, and ritual.

Located in a quiet forest clearing outside Kyoto, this pavilion was commissioned as a space for meditation and quiet reflection. The structure employs traditional Japanese joinery techniques, with cedar frames and shoji paper screens that filter daylight into soft, diffuse illumination. The floor is finished with polished basalt, which absorbs heat during the day and releases it slowly at night. The pavilion is oriented to capture the movement of the sun throughout the seasons, making light itself the primary material of the architecture.

Located on a windswept coastline, this retreat is designed to withstand the harsh Nordic climate while offering panoramic views of the sea. The interior is finished with locally sourced timber and painted in soft white, providing a quiet backdrop to the ever-changing sky. The corten steel exterior cladding will weather over time, blending the house into its coastal environment.

In the dense urban environment of Mexico City, this project reimagines the traditional courtyard house as a vertical garden. Each of the five levels is connected by a central open staircase, with terraces that extend outward to capture light and air. The building's brick exterior is punctuated by cascading planters that soften the facade and provide natural cooling. Inside, terracotta floors and hand-crafted fixtures reference the region's rich artisanal heritage, while large windows frame views of the surrounding cityscape.

Built-in storage is integrated into every surface, while the main living space opens onto a small garden that brings natural light deep into the interior. The material palette — cedar, paper, and stone — creates a warm and tactile environment that feels more spacious than its modest footprint.

This Victorian townhouse in a conservation area of London has been sensitively restored and modernized for contemporary living. The original brickwork has been repaired and preserved, while the interior has been reconfigured to improve circulation and natural light. A new rear extension in oak and glass opens onto a landscaped courtyard, and the upper floors feature a palette of lime plaster and dark timber. Throughout the project, craftsmanship and material honesty have been prioritized, creating a residence that honors its architectural roots while embracing the needs of a modern family.
